Love is a force

"Love is a force that connects us to every strand of the universe, an unconditional state that characterizes human nature, a form of knowledge that is always there for us if only we can open ourselves to it."

My Daily Affirmation

"Strong  people make as many mistakes as weak people. Difference is that strong people admit their mistakes, laugh at them, and learn from them. That is how they become strong." – Richard Needham

"Begin challenging your own assumptions. Your assumptions are your windows on the world. Scrub them off every once and a while, or the light won't come in."

Query to an Agent/Publisher

Gosh, it seems to be such a Dogma. A very touchy subject, "Where did I come from"? As your child or someone else child has asked. You always try and keep your answers simply as possible, I have told my children, "We all came from the Hands Of God"!. I had a vision about a children's Book. We can altogether relate. A "beautiful book", explain this to children, through illustrations.

I wanted to show and tell in a children's book, using Angels and water. As the waters are forming in God's hands- they fall unto the Earth, and become human. They look around at each other and smile, then look up to God.

Each  form of water, (children), I wanted them to resemble the Saint's- The great Leader's- Healers, Geniuses; (Biblical, Moses, Einstein, Buddha - heroes and Herons),-etc.
By showing, that each of them came from the hands of God- mixing and meshing- twisting and turning as they came to be. Letting children know that "they" have a bit of Einstein, Saints, and some Great leaders and Healers in "US" all.

To convey to children, that we are all so special, no matter what. Different Yes!, and yet so much alike. So when someone's Child- Grandchild- Friend, and so on ask, where do I come from? This little book can help. Making this a Universal language, "From the Hands of God".
I want it to be funny, to touch your soul. There is an angel that always, and I mean always, asks questions, (like most child do). Furthermore, a form of water ( a child ) that is funny and compassionate, to show that God favors "Love, Humor, and Compassion".

New Orleans

On the wake of the Super Bowl, I ran across some old National Geo magazines, from way back in January, 1995- I started to look at some of the photos, and really got a feel for the Big Easy!. Wow!!! What a metropolis, it was a thriving city.

The photos that were taken, captured the essence, the Beauty! of New Orleans. From the waterways of Port Charles down to Bourbon street. The down town was filled with people celebrating Mardi Gras!. The scene on the streets, Umbrellas of all colors. From drag queens to the Mardi Gras queen. Dressing in a fashion of what I would say, ( Marie Antoinette) What a happening this is. Strings of colorful beads, Peacock and Ostrich feather’s , all on a headdress of sorts. I can see where Vegas gets it’s inspiration from !, it’s Mardi Gras. All the costumes, Mask.

Creole cuisine, the taste of the French quarters

An let’s not forget the music here. All Jazz and Rag time baby, simple pure, from the streets of Orleans. I can hear Harry Connick Jr. Fats Domino- Louise Armstrong- I have never been to New Orleans. Would have really liked to see it in all it’s beauty. Post Katrina, Don’t want to go there, not today anyway. These photos just had me thinking, I am so happy for New Orleans and the Saints! They really deserve this victory. So here is a BIG whoa to New Orleans.

Drawings for Children's Book

This is the first of 8, that I drew for my children's book. She is the face of the "sun". The book starts off with the Universe, Sun-Moon-Stars, and Planet's.  I have gone back and forth with what the Sun and Moon are to look like. It is for children, and the Sun has become a Goddess or a Lioness. I guess, the sun can become either one of these. I just have to keep in mind that it's for children. I wanted her to be WISE with beams of light. All knowing, I haven't decided which one. I just keep drawing her. She keeps evolving. I must state, I have grown a lot since writing and doing the illustration for this book- Have been so "Inspired".  What pleasure, I have just begun to draw. I can't forget the "Moon", I have drawn a wonderful moon. I have used pastels and markers. I absolutely Love doing all the illustrations. However, to get this "PUBLISHED", okay, there I said it. I have looked at many agents, I haven't as of yet, to find one that has published a book on the Hands of God. That is what I've titled the book.

Children’s Library

I was writing about how I should have a complete children’s library in my last post. My daughter brought over a bag of beginning Reader’s . She works for a Centre that cares for –Children With Autism.

Went through the bag looking at all the Illustrations, to help with my own children’s book. It is really fun when you have a vision. I really lost myself in the wonder of the books. When you have a set vision of what you want it to look like- I’ve received all sort of inspiration- from looking at Blogs- to books-Art and so on. What a wonderful Journey this has been. You can’t help and always thank the people in your life for the inspiration.

After looking through these books and My Blogs, had me thinking about my children’s library. It was a new school, and my daughter’s first year (  Kindergarten ). The School received just a set of books, 25 or so for each grade level. To help get the school started. Each year they would receive additional books. Still wasn’t a complete library.  It got me thinking about a program I helped with at a previous school my son attended. Called the “Birthday Book Club”.

How it works is, a children donates a book on (his or hers birthday ). It has to be a approved book- the principle can help with the guide lines that are required- For each grade level and so on. Each child will receive a stamp in the book with their name and their birthday, also a brass candle book marker with ( his or her name on that) and finally, a candle  on a “BIG” cake that mentions who donated for that month. This is a great way to help improve  your Childs library. What is always a thrill, to have a book signed by the Author. There can always be duplicates of a book.
