Hand Made Cards

Hi everyone,
We are making holiday cards for everyone that has been helping our beloved father, and husband.
He is back in the hospital, we are so grateful for the nurse’s and Dr’s that have devoted their time and effort in helping people. They have gone beyond the call of duty. Also, people with the Cancer Society, Social workers, and beyond.
I have gone to Jo Ann’s and picked up Their Amber Autumn Fall Stack collection. 70 cards in all. I also purchased the Autumn papers. The box of cards comes with envelopes. I am trying something different. I’m going to be doing a tri fold with a leaf attached. I cut out leafs from the paper stack. Then gluing them on the front. Inside the card I have glued matching paper, then I will be printing a ( quote of gratitude ).
Showing our appreciation, We haven’t planed a feast or festival. We just want to give thanks and be grateful,  for Science of today.
So here is a sample of the makings' of our cards.

World Peace

When we think of world peace, we think of All calm through out the World. I believe this gives credence to what we all want for World Peace, Comes from within-and out, Thank you Unity PEACE!

World Peace

I am at peace with the world around me.

Peace is always an option and today it is my choice. Peace guides my thoughts, responses, decisions and actions. There is nothing in the outer world to fear, for peace is my decision. What could possibly disturb the eternal peace of God that is the Source of my peace?

If I observe conflict, I remember to choose peace. Sending a prayer of peace to those in turmoil, I know peace is possible in every situation. I take a breath if the conflict involves me. In that breath, I recall that peace is my decision today.

Responding from my center of peace, I am calm and at ease as I move through the day. My words are kind, comforting and supportive. I am at peace with the world around me.

I will grant peace in the land, and you shall lie down, and no one shall make you afraid.--Leviticus 26:6

Update On Recycle Page

I've recycled an old water fountain that seen its day. Filled with my own compost.
I sprayed it with. ( Hammered Paint -by Krylon ). Then, I antiqued it with a water base stain-last I cleared it, ( only on the outside).

I really had a problem with slugs and snails. So I used some copper foil that I had left over from doing some stained glass. You can see the copper foil over the seed pods of peet moss.

I really miss my fountain. Nothing like the sound of calming water. It serves well as an herb garden. I planted - Strings of Pearl from the spout. Try this  ( String of Pearls). It looks like water flowing from the spout.

A beautiful mother Bird, found this to be a wonderful home. Since then, the string of pearls hasn't been the same. However, all isn't lost. I can say, I am like a grandma to the little darlings who emerge. I must admit, I was somewhat  proud. She knew how I protected the them from our ever curious Dogs!

Also, on the right side of the planter, you will see my Tiny little seeds that are emerging. I like to start with seeds.

Special when you make your own compost. Then you know where the soil came from. The cost is much less than if you bought a plant that is already established, and soil.
This way, I can arrange then, in my garden.

I love to recycle Almost anything- I am a child of the Sixty's and Seventy's- Love the Good Earth

I AM THAT I AM
I Am the presence you have been waiting for,
I have come before you not to be judged,
I have come before you to be loved.
As you do to me-you do to yourself.
Recognize your imperfections, love your faults
and in that moment you shall become I Am That I Am.

Science Daily

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2010/09/100930143351.htm

ScienceDaily (2010-09-30) -- Researchers have uncovered the mechanism by which leukemia cells trigger a protective response when exposed to a class of cancer-killing agents known as histone deacetylase inhibitors.

The findings, published in the Journal of Biological Chemistry, could lead to more effective treatments in patients with leukemia and other cancers of the blood.

"Our findings provide new insights into the ways such cancer cells develop resistance to and survive treatment," says Grant, associate director for translational research and professor of medicine. "This knowledge will now allow us to focus our efforts on strategies designed to prevent these self-protective responses, potentially rendering the cancer cell incapable of defense and increasing the effectiveness of therapy."

The discovery centers on modification of a protein known as NEMO. Researchers have known for some time that HDACIs trigger a protective response in leukemia cells by activating a survival signaling pathway known as NF-κB, which limits the ability of HDACIs to initiate a cancer cell suicide program known as apoptosis. However, it was previously thought this process occurred through activation of receptors residing on the cancer cell surface. What VCU Massey researchers discovered was that HDACIs initially induce DNA damage within the cell nucleus, leading to modification of the NEMO protein, which then triggers the cytoprotective NF-κB pathway. By disrupting modifications of the NEMO protein, NF-κB activation can be prevented, and as a consequence, the cancer-killing capacity of HDACIs increases dramatically.

HDACIs represent an approved form of treatment for certain forms of lymphoma, and VCU Massey Cancer Center has been working for over seven years to develop strategies designed to improve their effectiveness in leukemia and other blood cancers. Grant's team is now focusing on ways to capitalize on this discovery by designing strategies that interrupt NEMO modifications through the use of pharmacologic agents and other means.

"Our goal is to move these findings from the laboratory to the bedside as quickly as we possibly can. There are currently several drugs in early stages of development that hold promise in disrupting the NEMO-related NF-κB pathway, but further research defining their safety and effectiveness will be required before we can incorporate them into new therapies," says Grant.

Free

I let go of the need to be in control, and I am free.

Believing that I must control the situation at hand may leave me feeling tense and burdened. Prayer helps me release these overwhelming feelings. Cults and new religious movements in literatur...

In prayer I remember that there is only God, and God is in control. I shift my thoughts to the good and release control. This is not my burden to carry. I am not in charge of other people or situations. I am not in control of another's life or behavior. I thank God for restoring me to peace.

As my thoughts quiet, my concerns dissipate. I gratefully affirm that with God all things are possible. I let go of the need to be in control, and I am free.

Out of my distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me in a broad place.--Psalm 118:5

 Great Attitude

A great attitude does much more than turn on the lights in our worlds; it seems to magically connect us to all sorts of serendipitous opportunities that were somehow absent before we changed.
